CELEBRATING OUR COMPANION ANIMALS The Pet Loss Support Group, the Calgary Humane Society and Legacy Sponsor, Kali's Wish Cancer Foundation, have joined together in a partnership to honour the life-long commitment we each have to our companion animals by celebrating their lives in a granite wall -  an enduring tribute to unconditional love. The Pet Loss Support Group is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to people who are struggling with the death or physical loss of companion animals.  The Calgary Humane Society's mission is to foster the humane treatment of animals and promote values which demonstrate respect for animals.  Kali's Wish Cancer Foundation is a non-profit fundraising organization dedicated to actively pursuing programs to eliminate cancer in our animal companions.  CONCEPT: Finally there is a place to honour our cherished animal companions -  the Rainbow Garden, a concept whose time has come. This unique project will be located at the new home of the Calgary Humane Society at 110th Avenue S.E., just off Barlow Trail. On the east side of the building a spirit pathway will lead you through a series of beautiful memorial walls featuring laser-etched granite tiles. Each granite tile on the commemorative walls will create a permanent tribute to our beloved companion animals. The granite tiles are stunning and will serve as an outstanding and long-lasting tribute to our animal companions. Along with the purchase of each brick you will receive written certification of your purchase and an invitation to the unveiling of the Garden. Two different sized black granite tiles are being offered: 4 x 8 granite tiles (brick-sized) which can be inscribed with up to 15 words; and  a limited number of unique 16" x 16" tiles. These limited edition tiles will accommodate a laser etching of your companion animal along with several lines of text. RAINBOW GARDEN LABYRINTH The labyrinth featured will be an integral element in the Rainbow Garden. The seven-circuit pathway shown is based on the sacred geometric pattern of life, the five-fold symmetry of paws, claws and hands.  This undulating pathway will be a place of peace and remembrance, a memorial garden. You will be invited to walk this "Spirit Path" in order to commemorate and celebrate the life and the death of your companion animals. Whether used as a format for grief recovery from pet loss or a joyful initiation of a companion relationship, the labyrinth is a symbolic journey of healing and reflection. Walking the labyrinth reminds us of the importance of our companions and their many and diverse walks through life.  KALI'S WISH CANCER FOUNDATION  DEDICATION WALL Families faced with the loss of a beloved pet to cancer can elect to have their memorial granite tile placed on the Kali's Wish Cancer Foundation - Dedication Wall. This special wall, within the Rainbow Garden, will become a place for families who have experienced cancer in their pet to recognize that they are not alone, and to remember their beloved companion while surrounded by kindred spirits.  Cancer has become the number one cause of death of domestic dogs and cats, with up to 67% of certain breeds dying from cancer.  The statistics are alarming and the first step in fighting this deadly trend is awareness.  Each pet whose memory is honored on the Kali's  Wish Dedication Wall becomes another voice speaking out for a day when far fewer families are forced to deal with the devastating loss of a canine or feline family member to this deadly disease.  Application/Further Information:  For further information about tiles and pricing or an application to purchase a tile, or project timing, please call the Pet Loss Support Group at (403) 246-0091 - ask for Kate.
